SLK supports CLG push it pledge - and YOU can help save lives today
posted on Tuesday 2nd March 2010
As part of the national Fire Kills campaign, Communities and Local Government (CLG) is launching the push it pledge, urging the public to make a pledge to be fire safe and to test their smoke alarms on a weekly basis. Care & Support Providers are ideally placed to help spread the message and support the campaign - start saving lives today
DID YOU KNOW
Eighty five per cent of people own a smoke alarm but worryingly less than a third test them every week - how many vulnerable people do you come into contact with that need to check their smoke alarm?
You are more than twice as likely to die in an accidental house fire if you dont have a working smoke alarm - you can help raise awareness and spread the word - make a difference today
Just two to three breaths of toxic smoke can render you unconscious your lungs fill up and you cant breathe just like drowning
The main reason that smoke alarms fail to activate is missing or flat batteries
Its imperative that a smoke alarm is not only installed in the home but that it actually works
Help save lives and tell us what your organisation, your team and you as an individual are doing to promote this campaign tell us about the difference your campaigning makes too - how many people didnt have working smoke alarms, what initiatives you have developed to support the campaign, how customers are supporting customers and how wider communities are benefiting from promoting the campaign....this is a really worthwhile campaign please do what you can to support it and share your endeavours with us in our forum
MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY!
